PSHE & RSE
The PSHE curriculum at St Michael’s develops the resilience and creativity of children in order to prepare them to become confident ‘lifelong learners and leaders’. Learners who show integrity in everything they do. Learners who have the ability to develop their skills and understanding when having new experiences, meeting new challenges and finding themselves in unfamiliar situations.
We offer a nurturing, learning environment in which each child is encouraged to develop their full potential, make positive choices, which are celebrated and rewarded. Older children support and develop younger children through a buddy system, ensuring that all learners are valued.
Our teachers set out to instil a strong sense of empathy in pupils by starting from a position of empathy and Christian ethos themselves.
We seek to understand the challenges that pupils face as a way of building their resilience through celebrating their successes, achievements and individuality.
As a school, we believe that children are all individuals. We aim to encourage mutual respect, embrace individuality, responsibility and a genuine sense of their place in the world both at a local level, national level and ultimately as part of a global community. Children are taught and understand they have rights and know how to give and refuse consent. They are taught to respect people's personal space.
Our children understand about giving consent and respecting one another's personal space.
