1. Week Beginning January 4th
UPDATE: Here is the Geography for today.
(Please note the zoom and Geography are separate sessions)
Put on your wellies and take a walk down to Hilly Fields!
Go and visit Turkey Brook and answer the questions. You can answer in writing, photos or drawings.
- Is the brook straight or curved?
- What material are the banks made of?Mud?Pebbles?Rocks?Sand?Clay?
- Is the bank natural or manmade?
- Is the edge gently sloping, steeply sloping or a vertical wall?
- Is the water carrying anything?
- How are people affecting/managing the stream? What signs can you see that humans have been around?
- Now drop a stick in the brook and see if you can follow it. Where does it stop? Why does it stop?
Just for fun why not play Pooh Sticks with your family.
- Each player selects a stick.
- Standing on the bridge, everyone drops their stick into the stream.
Rush to the other side of the bridge to see whose stick is first to emerge.
