3d. Thursday 21st January Resources and register

Before we begin, a riddle!

Answer to yesterday's riddle: His brother is 10. Half of 8 is 4, so Grant’s brother is 4 years younger. This means when Grant is 14, his brother is still 4 years younger, so he’s 10.

Riddle: You’re running a race and at the very end, you pass the person in 2nd place. What place did you finish the race in?

Find the answer on tomorrow's home learning page.

Write your newspaper report (45minutes)  This week we are going to write a newspaper article about the mysterious giant. To get columns, fold your paper in half so you get a line down the middle. If you can’t do this don’t worry about it.

All of you must have a headline, picture and caption. Remember to use expanded noun phrases from last week and different sentence starters.

Most of you should organise your information into and inverted pyramid with the key information in the first paragraph. Remember to use expanded noun phrases and different sentences starters with commas.

Some of you could choose words and phrases that are suitable for you audience and purpose. Think about the emotion you wanted your reader to feel, how are you going to make them feel it? Remember what you said your focus was and stick to that.
