Please note that there have been two Variations to the September 2022-2023 Admissions Policy:

COVID-19 Exceptional Circumstances

Please note that due to the exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, a Variation to the faith based oversubscription criteria for admission in September 2021 was proposed by the Governing Body of St Michael’s CE Primary School. The Variation was approved by the Office of the Schools Adjudicator, in accordance with section 88E of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 - and remains in the policy for admission in September 2022:

Variation to the 2022-2023 Admission Policy:

In the event that during the period specified for attendance at worship, the church has been closed for public worship and has not provided alternative premises for that worship, the requirements of these admission arrangements in relation to attendance will only apply to the period when the church or alternative premises have been available for public worship.

This means that parents will not be penalised for not attending church during the period in which churches were closed for public worship.  Please be aware that it is the responsibility of parents to look out for information from local churches regarding the re-opening of those churches and regarding evidence of church attendance, for the purpose of school places.

Variation to the 2022-2023 Policy - New Schools Admissions Code September 2021

Please note that the new Admission Code agreed by Parliament came into force on 1st September 2021. The new Code requires that:

The highest priority is given to looked after children and all previously looked after children, including those children who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.

This Variation to the 2022-2023 Policy was agreed by the Governing Body Admissions Committee at their meeting of 9th July 2021.
