Seek Joy in Service

Remember you have a few options for learning English at home:

  • Follow the suggested timetable (which will be given in the relevant week's tab - for now this will involve a variety of tasks mainly based around the book 'Wonder'.
  • Follow the Hamilton Trust plans:
  • Write a journal / diary recording what you are doing and how you are feeling - this will be an amazing thing to look back on in twenty years time! (Try to include expanded noun phrases, show not tell, emotive language, relative clauses and everything else that makes your writing great!).
  • Write a book review / discuss a book with someone else.
  • Watch newsround and write a short summary of what you have heard.
  • Use activities from the website Pobble365:
  • Write a non-chronological report on one of our topics (Anglo-Saxons, South America) or something else that has always interested you.
  • Design a newspaper report based on your life at home - could contain quotes from relatives, pictures, etc.
  • Write your own story - about anything!

Other ideas for learning English can be found on the document 'General Activities for each subject' located on the Year 5 homepage.
