Infants
In KS1, we bring about God’s Kingdom in the classroom and playground by using kind words and making the right choices, which enables us to treat people with love, respect and integrity. We embed these skills daily to ensure we are Leaders of Tomorrow and can strive to be the best that we can be. We have a great time preparing and performing a Christmas production each year and also take part in music concerts and festivals throughout the year.
In Year 1, children are introduced to slightly more formal learning through a transition period from Early Years. We still have an outside play area and focus on practical skills to develop maths and language acquisition e.g. role play and making numbers.
In Year 2, children are given plenty of opportunities to increase their independence ready for life in KS2, such as being part of the Health and Environment councils and being Infant librarians. Learning in KS1 is engaging, practical and fun. Role play and group work is integrated into lessons in order to support vocabulary acquisition.
KS1 also have lots of opportunities to visit local areas like Hilly Fields and St Michael’s Church, where each year group re-enact a baptism and wedding service.
