What a fantastic year we have had!

This month’s newsletter is a special one, as each class shares their favourite moments and memories from the year.

From my perspective, there have been so many highlights. From a teaching and learning point of view, we have had an excellent year in terms of outcomes for our pupils. Results will be posted on our website as soon as they are confirmed - they are outstanding results, and they reflect the hard work, dedication, and resilience of our pupils and our fantastic team of staff.

Beyond the numbers, I have loved hearing the children talk excitedly about their trips and visits, and watching them shine in performances and events throughout the year. Nothing in school happens in isolation; it is the strength of our team, and the support of our whole community, that makes it possible. In a world and education system that is constantly changing, what makes me most proud is that we continue to offer a stable, caring environment where children can flourish.

Your children are so precious to us, and they remain at the heart of every decision we make. We may not always get everything right, but please know that our intentions are always rooted in our values and in doing the very best for every child in our care — just as we would want for our own children.

Thank you for your ongoing support this year. I wish you all a wonderful and restful summer.

Wimbledon Week

Last week, all of our children from Year 1 to Year 6 took part in a special Wimbledon Week, where they focused on learning tennis skills and discovering more about the history and excitement of Wimbledon. We started and ended the week with whole school collective worship themed around Wimbledon, reflecting on values like perseverance, sportsmanship and unsung hereos.

The children really enjoyed developing new techniques, and it was wonderful to see their excitement. Our teachers also loved joining in, making it a fun and active experience for everyone.

A huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Worton for sharing my vision of bringing Wimbledon to our school and for making it a reality. It was a fantastic way to end the year on a high.

Reception

Both Green and Red Class agree that their favourite part of this year was our end-of-year trip to Knebworth House! It was a fantastic day filled with excitement — we listened to dinosaur stories, found our way through the maze, trip-trapped over a bridge, spotted life-sized dinosaurs, and had so much fun playing together in the Knebworth Fort adventure playground.

1RH

1GR

1GR cited their trip to Frameless as the most "unforgettable" and "magical" experience of the school year. Having the opportunity to step into the heart of art itself was the ultimate immersive art experience where history, culture and creativity collided. Our fully immersive cultural journey had us walking through Van Gogh's swirling skies, listening to the rhythms of African drums and watching Mondrian's bold colour grids dance to the tune of life! The world's most celebrated works were no longer confined to frames. From the dulcet tones of violins echoing through a Monet-inspired garden, to jazz reverberating in London's monumental revival; we had a truly magnificent feast for our senses! We were so grateful to have had the chance to feel, explore and create astonishing art on a living canvas.

2RK

One of 2RK’s favourite memories from Year 2 was visiting the Tower of London as part of our History topic. Travelling by train made the day even more exciting! We were fascinated by the Crown Jewels and amazed to see the items that King Charles wore at his coronation. Exploring the armoury was another highlight, as we got to see the incredible armour and weapons once used by soldiers. We also had great fun acting out scenes from the Great Fire of London, helping to bring our history learning to life. It was a fantastic day.

2GK

2GK’s favourite experience was the Sleepover because we spent so much time together, and we did lots of fun activities. For some children, waking up early in the morning, surrounded by their friends was a special moment because it was their first sleepover EVER!

3RM

We had a great time at the Young V & A to explore toy mechanisms as part of our pneumatics project in D & T.  We looked at toys from  the past - some of which our teachers and volunteers used to play with!

We explored magnetic marble runs and creating patterns in rotating sand.  We made giant models with foam blocks, dress up in theatre costumes and solved word riddles.  What a great day.

3GMJ

In June, Year 3 had a fantastic time completing a sponsored hike around Hillyfields for their Seek Joy in Service Project.  The hike raised money for the charity ‘Bridge of Hope’ who provides grants and sponsorship to children and young adults in the developing world to go to school and university.

4RJ

4GN

4GN’s favourite moment this year was their residential trip to Tolmers. It was a time filled with adventure, teamwork, and laughter, a chance for the class to bond, step out of their comfort zones, and create unforgettable memories together.

5RG

5GMB

5GMB's favourite activity this year was their exciting trip to the Young Mariners, where they took part in a range of fun and challenging water sports. The children worked together to build their own rafts, testing their teamwork and creativity before taking them out on the water. They also tried paddle boarding, learning to balance and glide across the surface with growing confidence. It was a fantastic experience filled with adventure, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

6RS and 6RB

Our favourite moment was getting wet at Willersley Castle.
