Music to our Ears
We are delighted to be continuing our music and singing lessons with Mrs Lamb, building on our valued Choral Partnership with St Paul's Cathedral. This partnership continues to give our children a wonderful platform to develop their vocal skills and experience choral music at the highest level.
We are also pleased to be extending our music provision through Enfield Music Service, who will be teaching:
- Year 3 – Ukulele
- Year 4 – Drumming
- Year 5 – Clarinet and Saxophone
Year 2 will develop their musicianship with the recorder, taught by their class teachers.
We look forward to raising the profile of music across the school in the coming year, giving every child the opportunity to learn an instrument and develop a lifelong love of music.
A Year to Remember
Reception
What a wonderful year it has been for our Reception children! They have grown into kind, confident and independent learners, with phonics and maths skills blossoming beautifully along the way. Highlights of the year included the magic of the Polar Express and a trip to the theatre for The Night Before Christmas, learning about the Easter story, and a memorable visit from Beegu. The children loved planting beans and watching them grow, as well as hatching their very own butterflies. We also welcomed visits from the Tooth Fairy and local firefighters, and enjoyed trips to the library, town park, garden centre and Forty Hall Farm. We rounded off the year with a fantastic trip to Gulliver's Dinosaur Land and Farm. It has been a year filled with laughter, friendship and unforgettable memories - we are so proud of every one of our Reception children and cannot wait to see them continue to flourish in Year 1.
Year 1
Year one really enjoyed our 'Sky Arts' week in June. They took part is drawing, dance, music and poetry sessions and had lots of fun. They became artists, poets and art critics, valuing one another's creative contributions and supporting one another to improve and develop. We have some excellent artists in our year group, which is wonderful to see.
Year 2
Year 2 have had a wonderful and successful Summer Term, filled with lots of lovely learning and memorable experiences. The children worked incredibly hard in preparation for their SATs, showing resilience, determination and a fantastic attitude throughout. One of the highlights of the term was the Year 2 Sleepover, where the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the talent show, building strong friendships and creating lasting memories together. We are so proud of the way they have consistently demonstrated our school values of Love, Respect and Integrity in everything they have done. Well done, Year 2 – we wish you every success as you begin your exciting journey into Year 3!
Year 3
What an incredible year it has been in Year 3! From exploring The Lorax and learning how to care for our environment to uncovering the mysteries of Ancient Egypt with a visit to the British Museum, every term has been filled with exciting adventures. We enjoyed a magical trip to the Christmas pantomime, visited a synagogue to bring our RE learning to life, celebrated Number Day with fun mathematical challenges, made delicious vegetable tarts, and discovered the fascinating world of bees with a real beekeeper - even holding real bees and standing beside a hive of over 15,000! We rounded off the year with a fantastic Sports Day, where the children showed great teamwork, determination and enthusiasm. It has been a year full of learning, laughter and unforgettable experiences!
Year 4
Gilwell Park was undoubtedly the highlight of Year 4. Throughout the residential, the children (and adults!!) challenged themselves to step outside their comfort zones, face their fears and try activities they never thought they could do. Whether climbing to new heights, working together to solve problems or encouraging one another to keep going, they showed incredible resilience, determination and teamwork. The experience helped the children grow in confidence, develop lasting friendships and create memories that will stay with them for years to come. It was an unforgettable adventure and a wonderful way to end their Year 4 journey.
Year 5
This term has been filled with many memorable achievements for Year 5. As part of our Seek Joy in Service project, the children demonstrated compassion and kindness by serving at a senior community event at Enfield Community Church, where they represented the school with maturity and respect. They also embraced their curiosity by taking part in the ETSP Science Fair, producing a fantastic range of investigations. We are especially proud that several children were selected to present their projects at Chase Community School, recognising their hard work and scientific thinking. These experiences, alongside the many successes and memories made throughout the year, have made it a truly successful and rewarding year for Year 5.
Year 6
Year 6 have had a memorable final year at St Michael’s. From residentials, trips and performances to SATs and countless moments of laughter, they have approached every challenge with enthusiasm, resilience and a great sense of humour. It has been a privilege to see them grow into kind, confident, independent and verbose young people. We wish them every success at secondary school and know they have bright futures ahead.
