Harvest Festival

We celebrated our Harvest Festival by giving thanks to God for the food, sunshine and rain that help things grow. We thought about how farmers prepare, sow and gather crops, and why we should be grateful for the food we have. We are very grateful for the amount of food donations that would have helped North London Foodbank.
Hats, Books and Singing with Banji Alexander!
What a wonderful afternoon we had welcoming Banji Alexander, author of Lockdown Looms and singer of If I Were King for the Day, a firm favourite with our children!
Children from Reception to Year 6 enjoyed his lively assemblies, with everyone adding to the fun by wearing fancy hats and colourful socks or shoes.
The excitement continued after school, when children and families had the chance to meet Banji and have their books signed—a lovely keepsake of a memorable visit.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the afternoon so special!

Spanish Afternoon

We’re pleased to share that St Michael’s has introduced Commando Joe’s, with KS2 pupil ambassadors helping to lead the way. The programme gives children practical opportunities to develop teamwork, communication, confidence and perseverance.
This is for all pupils, not just the ambassadors. It is already helping to bring more structure and purpose to unstructured times, with activities that encourage children to join in, work together and build positive relationships. This reflects our commitment to helping every child flourish and be a force for positive change.
Nursery
What a fantastic start to the school year! Nursery have settled brilliantly and are already following our Nursery routines. The children have been busy making friends and thinking about feelings, with the help of the Colour Monster. We have been singing lots of Nursery Rhymes including Incy Wincy Spider, Baa Baa Black Sheep and Humpty Dumpty. The children enjoyed making a class Humpty Dumpty and pushing him off the wall to reveal a surprise inside. We have had lots of fun outside too climbing, balancing, dragging tyres and working on our gross motor skills. The class have enjoyed lots of stories and have worked hard matching and sorting in Maths. We learned about Harvest and that we are all unique. Keep up the good work Nursery ??

Reception
Our Reception children have settled wonderfully into school life, quickly making bonds and forming lovely new friendships. They have loved exploring their new environments both inside and outside the classroom with curiosity and enthusiasm. They have also made a fantastic start in their phonics lessons and are already well on their way to becoming confident, brilliant readers!
Year 1
Year One have had a fabulous term. They have transitioned fabulously into Year One, growing in independence and confidence.

The children were very excited to investigate a problem on the school field! It turned out that the three little pigs had been building their houses! The children have listened to and recalled the story of the little pigs and been using drama to reinforce the story language. We finished our term with a fabulous ‘Big Write’ which included phonetic spellings, capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Well done to Year One. We are proud of your progress so far.
Year 2
Year 2 have had a lovely start to the school year, filled with lots of exciting learning and wonderful experiences! We were delighted to welcome Banji Alexander to our school, which was a real highlight of the half term.
In Science, we explored seeds and bulbs, planted our own and enjoyed watching them grow in our classroom. In History, we learnt about two inspiring historical figures, Rosa Parks and Emily Davison, discovering how they stood up for what they believed in and helped to make a difference. We also developed our Geography skills by learning about maps and exploring our local area.
Alongside all of this, we learnt about the importance of online safety and how to stay safe when using the internet. We are so proud of the enthusiasm, curiosity and hard work Year 2 have shown this half term and look forward to all the exciting learning still to come!
Year 3

Year 4
Year 4 have had a busy and exciting time this term! They have been developing their musical skills through weekly drumming lessons with Enfield Music Service (EMS). They have also enjoyed two exciting trips. At St Paul’s Cathedral, the children led a Eucharistic lunchtime service that they had been practising for over a month, showing great confidence and dedication. They also visited the long-awaited Natural History Museum, where they watched an interactive show about earthquakes and volcanoes. Well done to Year 4 for their enthusiasm and fantastic learning beyond the classroom!

Year 5

Year 6
Year 6 have had a great start to the year, learning about climate change, Maya bloodletting ceremonies and how to make chocolate from cacao beans. A highlight of many was seeing a real heart being dissected to help our understanding of the circulatory system.
Engineering Club
Miss Al-Abri and Miss Bozkurt hosted an Engineering Club for some children in Years 3–6. Since Summer 2, the children have explored locomotives, learned about engineering and designed their own creations. Through trial and error, they showed fantastic resilience and determination, attending every after-school session. We celebrated their hard work and achievements with a special event. Well done to all our young engineers.
